Hello everyone, I am currently planning a new wardrobe system from Ikea and have been particularly interested in the Pax range. I noticed that there are different configurations available, including various drawer mechanisms. My specific question is: Which Ikea Pax wardrobes or drawer modules come standard with a soft-close feature? Are there differences depending on the model, or is it generally optional? I am looking for something that closes as quietly and smoothly as possible, as this is an important criterion for me. Thank you in advance for all your answers and experiences!

In short: Maximera drawer modules usually come with soft-close mechanisms. Other models typically do not. Pay close attention to the product details when purchasing.

That’s a very well-asked question, thanks for that.

To add some information: For Pax, you should specifically look at the "MAXIMERA" drawers, as these often come with built-in soft-close functionality. Other drawers, such as the classic "KOMPLEMENT" modules, sometimes don’t have this feature or offer it only as an option.

There are also "Veddinge" fronts at Ikea, where soft-close is usually not part of the standard package. It’s worth checking the product selection carefully and comparing item numbers.

I recommend trying out the drawers in the store, as this lets you directly feel the difference in how they close.

Absolutely, that’s why I’d like to add a few technical details:

- MAXIMERA drawers come with damped full-extension slides that provide a soft-close function; this means they slow down the drawer when closing.
- KOMPLEMENT drawers sometimes have simpler slides without damping, so you may need to retrofit them.
- When ordering online from Ikea, you can find these details in the product description under “Features” for each drawer unit.

A small tip: For better durability, always make sure the cabinet is installed level and the drawer runners are kept clean, as this can otherwise affect the soft-close function.

I can only confirm that. I once had the problem that my drawer rattled and no longer closed smoothly. After a thorough inspection, I saw that dirt had accumulated and the mechanism was no longer engaging properly.

Regular maintenance is therefore very important, especially for frequently used drawers.

Soft-close is very often only installed in MAXIMERA. Otherwise, retrofit or choose a different series.

[@fredle, post: b6l7g0, member: XXX] Ikea generally offers two types of drawer slides for the Pax drawers – standard and soft-close.[/quote]

Thanks for the detailed information. I see that I should especially pay attention to the "MAXIMERA" range. I will try it out during my next visit to Ikea and report back on how well it performs in everyday use. If anyone has more practical tips for installation or experience with long-term use, please feel free to share!
