Hello everyone,

I am currently planning my wardrobe and have decided to use the Ikea PAX system. Now I am wondering which of the PAX doors are the most durable for everyday use. Specifically, I mean:

- Which types of doors resist scratches and impact damage best?
- Are there differences in materials (e.g., solid wood, MDF, glass, plastic) regarding durability?
- How about maintenance and sensitivity?

I want to avoid seeing dents or marks after only a short period, even with normal use. Maybe someone here has experience with the different PAX door types and can recommend particularly sturdy options.

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Hello Filapin,

I would be happy to answer your question about the specific models:

- The classic Pax doors, such as the KOMPLEMENT models, are usually laminated or painted.
- The TORE door series often features a melamine coating, especially on smooth surfaces.
- The Elvarli series generally uses painted fronts instead of Pax doors.

Melamine surfaces are very resistant to scratches and moisture, easy to maintain, and resemble plastic without looking cheap.

So, if you value durability, look specifically for Pax doors with melamine or laminated finishes when purchasing, for example, smooth white or black doors.

One more tip: IKEA often provides detailed material information in their online shop, where you will usually find the surface materials explicitly listed as "melamine-coated" or "laminated."
