Hello everyone, I am currently looking into Ikea PAX wardrobe systems, with a particular focus on allergy-friendly options. My main question is: Based on your experience or knowledge, which Ikea PAX doors are best suited for allergy sufferers – meaning those that bind as few allergens as possible, are easy to clean, and emit little dust or harmful substances? I am interested in the different materials and finishes of the doors, such as solid wood, plastic, mirror, or other coatings. Are there any specific recommendations or considerations to keep in mind when choosing? Thanks in advance!

IKEA PAX doors with lacquered MDF surface offer a very good combination of easy cleaning, low allergenic impact, and high durability. I fully agree. These doors are low-maintenance and emit hardly any harmful substances. Not to mention, wiping them down with a damp cloth is straightforward.
Hi everyone! I think this topic is very important because people with allergies should especially avoid dust and dirt in furniture.
A year ago, I chose Pax doors with a high-gloss lacquer finish, and it has been a real advantage for me! The surfaces are so smooth that dust hardly settles, and if it does, a quick wipe with a damp cloth is enough. Especially if you regularly write or read, this makes it easier to breathe in the room over time.
A small tip: Keep the edges of the doors very clean, as dust often accumulates most there.

Are there any specific recommendations or tips to consider when making a choice? As an addition: If you are particularly sensitive, I recommend paying attention not only to the door itself but also to the overall indoor air quality and the interior fittings of closets.
- Avoid textiles and materials that tend to attract a lot of dust.
- Ventilate regularly and use air purifiers if possible.
- For the doors, look for TÜV or other environmental certifications verifying they are free of harmful substances.
Have you already checked whether your allergy is mainly triggered by dust mites, pollen, or other substances? This can help make a more precise choice of doors.
