Hello
I just signed up because I need your advice.
I am planning to buy a Pax wardrobe with a width of 250cm (98 inches).
I also need doors—sliding doors.
I was considering the Lyngdal door with frosted glass (this would be the cheapest option—I don’t want to spend more than 300 euros on the door).
What do you think about this door? Is there a risk that it might come off?
Since it will be a white frame—possibly a white hinged door—
I would appreciate any advice.

I have a 250cm (98 inches) PAX with Lyngdal sliding doors, and nothing falls out... 😀

Elvis_12204 Sep 2012 13:23I didn’t even notice the recall... However, I don’t think the Lyngdal doors were affected; otherwise, I would have read about it.
I assembled the cabinet by myself, which wasn’t exactly easy considering I had significant disc problems at the time. It is possible to do it alone, but you need to be careful—especially when putting the carcasses upright, otherwise they might collapse. The doors themselves were easy to assemble, but hanging them is tough since they feel like they weigh around two tons. My wife could hardly lift the door at all—definitely have two strong people available to get the door onto the track.
You should also plan to spend an afternoon on this. It takes a while to get everything fully set up (including the interior fittings). When I did it alone, it took two afternoons.

okay
then another thought
how is it with the Lyngdal doors – can you see everything clearly or does it look a bit blurred
IKEA offers the assembly service
could you ask if they only assemble the carcass including the door, and that you do the rest yourself
would the price stay the same or would it be a bit lower
thanks

Elvis_12204 Sep 2012 22:30It’s exactly what you would expect from frosted glass – you can see the clothes through it, but more like shadows. The only thing that really shows clearly are the shelves, which in my case are white just like the cabinet. Everyone will have to decide for themselves whether they find that distracting. I didn’t mind it since I rarely let anyone into my bedroom anyway... 😉
The assembly service could probably work as is, but since the price usually depends on the value of the goods, you might as well have them do everything. The interior fittings won’t add much to the cost (unless you fill everything with drawers. In that case, the extra cost won’t be significant...
The bigger issue is probably that the interior fittings are installed before the doors are hung – I don’t think the installers will want to wait that long (unless you do it yourself).
