Hello everyone,

I am currently looking into the IKEA Platsa system for a larger wardrobe and have a question: Are there versions of IKEA PLATSA with sliding doors?

So far, I have mainly seen folding or hinged doors, but sliding doors would be much more practical in tight spaces. Therefore, I would like to know if IKEA officially offers such versions within the PLATSA range or if this is usually a custom solution that one has to implement themselves. It is also important for me to know if IKEA provides specific track systems or mounting options for this.

Does anyone have experience with this or is familiar with the system? Any tips on compatible solutions are welcome.

Thank you in advance!

I recommend carefully measuring the height and width of your PLATSA units before purchasing the rail systems.

This is essential. I would add:
- Choose sturdy rail systems, like those used by IKEA—for example, the Pax system with sliding doors is a good reference where you can check the systems.
- These rail systems are not compatible with Platsa, but you can use similar systems with some adjustments.
- For materials, I recommend tested MDF or lightweight HPL panels that are not too heavy, to protect the rail system.

This way, you can avoid later issues with smooth operation.

For clarification: There are officially NO PLATSA sliding doors available at IKEA.

Key facts:
- PLATSA is designed for hinged and folding doors.
- Sliding doors require separate track systems, which are not integrated into PLATSA.
- All sliding doors mentioned in connection with PLATSA are custom solutions or provided by third-party suppliers.
- The dimensions and weight of sliding doors must be carefully planned to avoid overloading the track system.

If you are looking for a space-saving wardrobe with sliding doors, the IKEA PAX system might be an alternative, as it is officially designed for sliding doors.

I can only add this: There are no official sliding doors for PLATSA.

Build your own suitable doors using third-party tracks; this works well if you have some DIY skills.

Or, as RENMA already mentioned, take a look at the PAX system, which is designed for that purpose.

I agree. If sliding doors are important to you, PAX is the better choice from IKEA.

PLATSA is more flexible regarding the cabinet frame, but it is not intended for sliding doors.

For sliding doors, you need to use separate track systems and modify the doors themselves.

Thanks to everyone for the helpful information!

I think I will focus on custom-built solutions using third-party track systems, as the design of PAX doesn’t quite fit.

If anyone has tips for durable track systems that work well for heights around 2 meters (6.5 feet), I would appreciate them.

Any advice on attaching the tracks to the PLATSA cabinets would also be great.

I’m looking forward to more shared experiences.
