Hello everyone, I have noticed that the door handles on my IKEA Kallax shelf sometimes become loose and eventually come off completely. Since I don’t want to keep tightening the handles or constantly adjust them, I’m wondering: What tricks or methods are there to securely and permanently attach the Kallax door handles so they don’t become loose again? I’m looking for long-term solutions that can be done easily, ideally without having to replace the handles entirely or needing special tools. Has anyone had experience with reinforcing the screw connection, retrofitting, or using additional aids like glue, seals, or washers? I’m looking forward to your suggestions!

A often underestimated method is to use self-locking nuts or nylon lock nuts when the handles can be screwed on from both sides. This significantly stabilizes the mounting without having to completely change the tools used.

Alternatively, if the door material proves to be too soft, thin metal plates with pre-drilled holes can be attached to the inside of the door. This creates a solid backing surface for the screws and prevents loosening due to material fatigue.

Be careful when choosing the screw length – they must fit as precisely as possible, otherwise they will push the fittings loose again.
