ᐅ What tips are there for making Ikea BESTA drawers easier to open and close?

Hello everyone,
I have a small but annoying issue with my Ikea BESTÅ drawers. They no longer open and close as smoothly as they did at first. Often, I have to use quite a bit of force or pull and push several times before the drawer is fully open or closed.
I’m interested in any tips you might have to make opening and closing these drawers easier.
Are there adjustment options that can be fine-tuned? Or special lubricants or cleaning methods that can restore smooth movement to the runners or tracks? Maybe someone knows tricks to optimize the sliding mechanism without much effort, so the drawers can be used smoothly again.
I look forward to your experiences and advice!

If you want, I can also write you a step-by-step guide on the best way to remove and reinstall it.But why? All these procedures involving removal and special cleaning seem excessive to me.
If the drawer is hard to open, you’d actually have to assume that the design itself isn’t optimal. Instead of messing around with it a lot, it would be better in my view if Ikea revised the hardware. Who knows how many people have already wasted time on such interventions...
I would rather recommend the pragmatic solution: a little silicone oil; if that doesn’t help, just buy a new set of drawer slides for 15-20 euros. It’s faster and lasts a long time.
Hello everyone!
I’d like to share a small tip that is often overlooked:
BESTÅ drawers actually slide much more smoothly if you not only adjust the rails but also lightly sand the area where the drawer front meets the cabinet using fine sandpaper (grit 400 or finer). Sometimes small paint drips or minor imperfections cause the front to catch when closing.
Additionally, applying a bit of wax (e.g., furniture wax) can reduce friction at these contact points.
This is quick to do and very effective, without having to take the entire drawer apart.
And yes, a good alignment of the front also makes a big difference. Good luck with optimizing!
