Hello everyone, I am currently planning to rebuild my Ikea Brimnes wardrobe, which has been disassembled, and I have a few specific questions about what I need to pay special attention to.

My main concern is which steps are particularly critical, what I should watch for when assembling the individual parts (e.g., stability, screw alignment, assembly sequence), and whether any special precautions are recommended when securing it to the wall. I would also like to know if there are any common pitfalls that are easy to overlook and could cause the furniture to become unstable in everyday use.

I have the standard model with drawers, not the extended version. If anyone has practical tips or firsthand experience, I would be very grateful. It should ultimately be just as stable and durable as before.

The most critical steps in reassembling the BRIMNES mainly involve the correct alignment and secure connection of the side panels to the back panel, as the entire stability of the cabinet depends on this. The screws should be inserted straight and without overtightening to avoid damaging the material. It is recommended to follow the assembly order exactly as stated in the instructions, since some connecting parts can only be properly installed in a specific sequence.

When attaching the unit to the wall, it is essential to use the correct anchors and screws suitable for the wall type (e.g., concrete, drywall). Wall fasteners must not be omitted, as the BRIMNES can tip over easily without them. Pay close attention to making sure the wall brackets are aligned straight.

Additionally, before installing the drawers, ensure that all connections are already firmly tightened, since the added weight will affect the overall stability.

Common mistakes include screws being too loosely tightened or panels twisting due to incorrect alignment, which can lead to long-term imbalances and instability.

I generally agree, but I wonder how realistic that is when using just a standard screwdriver or cordless drill. Keeping the screw perfectly straight is especially challenging with pre-drilled holes, particularly when the wall thickness isn’t uniform throughout.

Therefore, it would be interesting to know if there are any special techniques to avoid misalignment, such as careful pre-drilling or using templates, or if one can simply adjust the screws by tightening them without compromising stability.

Additionally, I believe it’s important to follow the instructions as a binding standard, but surprises often arise during reassembly—such as parts being slightly damaged during disassembly. My question to PEOVELI is: Are there specific defects or changes in the material to watch out for during reassembly? This could potentially complicate the process.

One important tip: The back panel of the BRIMNES is not just a decorative cover, but plays a crucial role in structural stability. Therefore, make sure that the back panel is installed perfectly straight during reassembly and that all nails or screws are securely fastened. A loose back panel can later cause the frame to warp.

When installing the drawer runners, caution is necessary—they should be mounted exactly parallel and at the same height; otherwise, the drawers will not slide smoothly and may eventually loosen or jam.

For wall fixing, I strongly recommend using an appropriate stud finder before drilling to locate any electrical cables or pipes. Using sturdy, commercially available wall plugs matched to the wall type is essential.

Finally: There have been reports of some people assembling the back panels the wrong way around. Be sure to check that the sides are aligned according to the instructions—the grooves on the back panel usually face inward, ensuring an optimal fit.

It is important to initially tighten all screws only lightly until the entire piece of furniture is assembled. Afterwards, tighten them systematically. This prevents stress or warping.

For wall mounting, it is recommended to use at least two support systems.

If the drawers stick, check the sliding rails for secure fitting and correct alignment.
