ᐅ How can I fix a problem with the drawers of the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe?

Hello everyone,
I have an IKEA Brimnes wardrobe with several drawers and am currently facing an issue: some of the drawers are difficult to open and close, and sometimes they get stuck or misalign when moving. I have already checked whether the slides are dirty or obstructed, but that does not seem to be the case. The drawers fit quite tightly in the guide rails, which in my opinion could indicate incorrect assembly or possibly improper adjustment of the slides or the drawer fronts.
Does anyone have experience with this particular piece of furniture and can offer advice on how exactly to fix the problem? For example, is there a method to adjust the slides or to loosen/tighten certain screws to prevent these issues?
Thanks in advance for any tips or shared experiences!

If you can unscrew the front panel, check whether it is properly mounted and not sitting crooked on the cabinet side.Good point, I hadn’t considered that a misaligned front panel could affect the sliding direction. I will check that.
Does anyone have a recommended sequence for removing and reinstalling the front panel without damaging it? Are there any tension points or plastic clips I should watch out for?
For Brimnes, the fronts are simply mounted on the inside of the side panels with screws. To dismantle:
- Pull the drawer out completely.
- There are two screws on each side on the inside; loosen these.
- Carefully pull off the front; there are no plastic clips.
- Reassemble in the reverse order.
Make sure to align the screws properly before tightening them after attaching the front to avoid misalignment.

Are the drawers being overloaded? I ask because tightness is often caused by overloading.
Could this be the case for you? New screws are rarely needed; it’s usually more about checking the proper load distribution. Overloaded slides or bent drawer side panels can cause these kinds of catches.

Could that possibly be the case for you?No, the drawers are not overloaded; they are rather typically filled with clothes and a few books. Therefore, load should not be the issue.
I still suspect incorrect alignment of the rails or uneven installation.
In addition to the mentioned points: also check the drawer rollers for any damage or breakage.
For Brimnes, these are usually made of plastic and can wear out over time. A broken roller causes uneven movement and jamming. Replacement is possible; spare parts should be provided by IKEA or available from furniture retailers.
You can also correct the rolling direction by gently bending the metal parts of the track if the gap is too tight.
