Hello everyone, I recently bought an Ikea Brimnes bed and now I’m facing the challenge of how to secure the back panel of the bed frame in a really stable and long-lasting way. The included screws seem quite weak, and I’m concerned that the back panel won’t be properly supported over time. Does anyone have experience with additional fastening options or alternatives to firmly fix the back panel? I’m especially interested in mechanical solutions that are easy to implement and significantly increase the stability of the furniture without damaging it. I look forward to your tips and experiences!
The original fasteners from Ikea are actually not the most robust. A proven method is to reinforce the back panel from the inside with small wooden strips. These are lightly sanded to fit the edges of the back panel, then pre-drilled and screwed to the main frame. This improves the overall stability and holds the back panel much more securely.
It is advisable to use about 3-4 additional screws with as flat a head profile as possible, alongside the original screws. These should be screwed through the back panel into the crossbars of the bed frame. Pre-drilling is essential to protect the material and improve stability.
