Hello everyone, I am currently planning a Pax wall unit for my bedroom and want to make sure I don’t overlook anything important. Therefore, my question is: What should I definitely keep in mind when planning a Pax wall to ensure the result is both functional and durable? I’m particularly interested in tips regarding the appropriate room height, anchoring, interior layout, as well as potential pitfalls during assembly or material selection. Maybe you also have advice on useful accessories or ideas for making the most of the storage space. Thanks in advance for your experiences and suggestions!

How can I best approach planning the interior layout to make optimal use of the available storage space?

This is a very important question, because only with an interior design tailored to your needs can you use the Pax wall efficiently. My advice would be:

- Consider what you actually need and how often: long coats require high hanging rods, while short tops can be hung one above the other, top and bottom.
- Use drawers for small clothing items or accessories.
- For shoes, special shelves that are angled or pull-out shoe boxes are recommended.
- Baskets work great for seasonal clothing.

A simple rule for hanging rods: plan about 1.2 meters (4 feet) of hanging rod space per meter (3 feet) of wardrobe width if you have many hanging items. Naturally, longer clothing requires more vertical space.

Good luck with your planning!

Don't forget to consider the door opening when planning the interior layout to ensure easy access to your belongings. Sometimes, you can save about 1 meter (3.3 feet) of interior space by switching to sliding doors.

I have a large PAX wall unit myself and can only say: Having plenty of accessories really helps manage the chaos! Especially baskets and pull-outs are great because you don’t have to store everything out of sight and can keep a good overview. And don’t worry about assembly – it’s easy with two people!

Even though it’s Christmas: A well-planned PAX wall warms the heart all year round 😊

This is a very relevant point. When planning a PAX wardrobe, choosing between sliding doors or hinged doors is a crucial decision. Sliding doors do not require extra clearance space in front, but they are somewhat more complex to install and require a perfectly flat surface.

Another aspect to consider is the material and color of the doors, which can make the room appear larger or smaller visually.

For interior planning, I would recommend using IKEA’s PAX planning tools to test different combinations and optimize the design. This also helps to understand how much space remains for, for example, long coats or many pairs of shoes.
