So far, I have only received one offer and was shocked:
Aluminum rods, clear glass roof 10mm (0.4 inches) thick (you can walk on it!), about 2m x 5m (6.5 feet x 16.5 feet), cost around 10,000.
Is this realistic?
Of course, a plastic roof is much cheaper, but I’m afraid it will become dirty and opaque after a few years.
What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Alberto
PS Sorry for my poor German; it is not my native language...

I just checked the website and our invoice.
The roof structure in our size costs 4400€.
We paid 8700€ including installation (excluding foundations).
The remaining costs to reach the mentioned 15,000€ were mainly for the awnings, with the rest for the foundation and the building permit / planning permission.

I bought from RD Roofing Systems (search for it online), Rudolf Domke, and I’m satisfied. They offered the best price I found, a traditional family business that delivers nationwide across Germany and, if desired, also provides installation. Communication was straightforward and pragmatic, typical for craftsmen. I like it a lot!
Could you tell me how much they charge for installation?
I’ve already requested a quote, but just for comparison!

PS Sorry for my poor German, it is not my language...10,000 sounds about right including installation and safety glass.
I’m puzzled by the 2-meter (6.5ft) depth... what’s the benefit? I would rather go for 4 meters (13ft), so one meter (3.3ft) more than the standard 3 meters (10ft).
Regarding the glass: it also needs cleaning. The 10mm (0.4 inch) multiwall profiles are also very good.
Also
Our neighbor cleans the hollow chamber profiles on his carport several times a year. Still, the plastic is more affected by sun, rain, and weather than glass, so after five years the carport roof looks like that. With glass, you hardly hear the rain falling on it. For that reason, I would always lean towards glass.
Two meters is definitely too little (maybe except on the east side). The first meter is always wet when it rains here. With strong wind, rain can reach even up to four meters, right up to the patio door.

Matthew038 Mar 2019 12:23@Musketier ...I was banned yesterday for advertising...just for your information. But as far as I can see, the post is still exactly the same?! Does that make sense? Maybe someone could clarify what exactly is allowed to be mentioned about manufacturers or suppliers? I was simply satisfied and recommended them. If that counts as unwanted advertising, okay. But often certain bricks or similar are asked about in the picture thread and brand names are mentioned...is that different? I just want to know for the future.
@Golfi90 I requested an installation quote by email and received a response of 2,800€ (approximately $3,000), but I don’t know if that was before or after tax, as I didn’t ask since we are doing it ourselves.
