So far, I have only received one offer and was shocked:
Aluminum rods, clear glass roof 10mm (0.4 inches) thick (you can walk on it!), about 2m x 5m (6.5 feet x 16.5 feet), cost around 10,000.
Is this realistic?
Of course, a plastic roof is much cheaper, but I’m afraid it will become dirty and opaque after a few years.
What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Alberto
PS Sorry for my poor German; it is not my native language...

Why is a building permit / planning permission actually required? Does it depend on the federal state / region?
Best regards
Sabine Yes, it does.
Here in S-H, you are allowed to build a covered structure up to 3 meters deep (10 feet) without a building permit or planning permission. However, 3 meters was not deep enough for us.
Additionally, our patio roof extended into the 30-meter (98 feet) protective buffer zone near our forest. Therefore, it had to be reviewed by fire safety and forestry authorities, even if we had stayed within the 3-meter limit.
