So far, I have only received one offer and was shocked:
Aluminum rods, clear glass roof 10mm (0.4 inches) thick (you can walk on it!), about 2m x 5m (6.5 feet x 16.5 feet), cost around 10,000.
Is this realistic?
Of course, a plastic roof is much cheaper, but I’m afraid it will become dirty and opaque after a few years.
What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Alberto
PS Sorry for my poor German; it is not my native language...

We clean it using a hose and a floor squeegee. The glass is of course slippery. With real glass, you can obviously see the bird droppings more clearly. We cleaned the top surface at least three times last year.
Since we now have a window vacuum cleaner, we will test it on the underside with a telescopic pole at the next opportunity.

We bought a 4-meter (13 feet) telescopic pole with a cleaning attachment and will test it this spring. I also think the top surface needs cleaning more than once a year, depending on the exact location (trees, fine dust, industry, pollen).
In autumn, I already used the telescopic pole to remove leaves. It worked well.
Although our roof is walkable, I don't need to try that.
I will either stand on a ladder in front of the roof or clean from the upper floor window.

With a 4 m (13 ft) telescopic pole and at that angle, you probably won't be able to apply enough pressure to remove the bird droppings.
We also had a professional window cleaner once last year. Even he noticed that next time he would need to bring something stronger. There were still spots everywhere. I suspect it's some kind of sticky pollen.

Does it become less sensitive if you use frosted glass? Doesn't it get worse? The surface is rougher then...
