So far, I have only received one offer and was shocked:
Aluminum rods, clear glass roof 10mm (0.4 inches) thick (you can walk on it!), about 2m x 5m (6.5 feet x 16.5 feet), cost around 10,000.
Is this realistic?
Of course, a plastic roof is much cheaper, but I’m afraid it will become dirty and opaque after a few years.
What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Alberto
PS Sorry for my poor German; it is not my native language...

Robertoal27 Sep 2021 16:06I have just received a quote. Weinor roofing is extremely expensive.
Weinor Glasoase ® Terrazza L Originale - without glass - : 8,200 Euro
10 mm (0.4 inch) laminated safety glass for Terrazza: 2,200 Euro
Weinor conservatory awning TOP OptiStretch: 5,500 Euro
Installation + base: 7,000 Euro
Total: (8,200 + 2,200 + 5,500 + 7,000) * 1.19 = 27,251 Euro
Is this a fair offer?

Did I receive a fair offer? You can only find that out for sure by requesting exact details from 1 or 2 other companies.
- Is the color specified?
- Is the unit without any lighting?
- Is the unit without a vertical awning?
- 2 or 3 posts?
- What should the base be? Foundation?
It really doesn’t look like a bargain. 😳 (Unless it’s not the "Daimler," but the "Maybach");)
Hi,
after comparing for a while, I understand the higher prices of premium manufacturers a bit better. Whether this is justified or not is up to everyone to decide, but keep in mind a few things such as
- Steel / aluminum have become very expensive in recent years
- The roof load capacities are usually significantly higher with the more expensive manufacturers
- Aesthetically nicer due to internal drainage systems and similar features
- Different span options available
and so on.
Because of a somewhat more complex shape of the canopy, we deliberately chose a more expensive manufacturer. We did some parts ourselves, and of course there were problems. That wasn’t a big deal, but what was good was that the manufacturer personally came, took on the issue, and solved it, staying involved until we were completely satisfied (he really visited us often).

Did I receive a fair offer? According to the website, I would interpret that the Glasoase is an uninsulated conservatory, while the Terrazza is just a roof covering?

Weinor Glasoase ® Terrazza L Originale Your statement contradicts itself there.
Otherwise, what also affects the price is whether you have three 3.5-meter (11.5-foot) long glass roofs or with a central bar. You can no longer lift 3.50 m (11.5 ft) panels with just two people, so you will need more helpers and possibly different transport options.
Is the awning mounted on top of the roof or underneath? Electrified/automated, etc.?
About 4-5 years ago, we also received an offer from Weinor. Looking at the pictures, it was probably the Terrazza plus with the overhang and the recessed gutter.
There, for a 6 x 4 meter (20 x 13 foot) unit with awning and vertical blind, the price was around 20,000. Of course, this is hardly comparable given the recent price increases.
We then decided on a somewhat more affordable supplier.
I believe Weinor operates in the higher price segment.
