Hello everyone,
I am considering upgrading my IKEA KALLAX shelves with glass doors. More specifically, I am thinking about the best way to install glass doors on the KALLAX units, which types of glass are suitable, and what to watch out for during installation.
Has anyone here ever built or fitted glass doors for KALLAX? What are your experiences regarding stability, visual effect, and usability? I am especially interested in whether it’s feasible to make the doors yourself or if it’s better to use prefabricated accordion or pivot doors.
I look forward to all your feedback and helpful tips!

Hello @GAUTAN, regarding the adjustments: hinges with multiple adjustable axes are extremely valuable. They allow precise alignment of the door in height, width, and depth, so soft-close mechanisms can be installed directly.
A proper drilling template set for the hinges can also help ensure the mounting holes are perfectly positioned. If the frame does not warp on any side, small irregularities can be easily compensated.

how you handled the adjustment of the doorsPatience paid off for me. I tested various hinges and eventually chose a model that can be precisely adjusted with an Allen key. This allowed me to keep the gaps to a minimum. A tip: definitely allocate plenty of time for alignment, otherwise it can get frustrating.

small cup hinges with adjustment options make alignment much easier I agree with that!

Had glass and aluminum profiles cut at the hardware storeI can also recommend that. If you don’t have the tools, getting the cuts done there is convenient, and the staff are usually helpful.
