Hello everyone, I have an Ikea Billy shelf and am considering replacing the standard wooden shelves with glass shelves. My specific question is: Is it technically and practically possible to swap the wooden shelves of the Billy unit for glass shelves without compromising the stability and safety of the shelf? Are any modifications needed to securely fix the glass shelves, and are there any recommended solutions or experiences? I look forward to your advice!
Additionally, you can purchase special glass clips that are attached to the outside of the shelving unit to secure the glass. These prevent lateral slipping and reduce the load on the supports. This is especially worth considering if you have children. It could be a good combination of aesthetics and safety.
Many people use these as padding to prevent the glass from creaking or breaking.
