Hello everyone, I am currently planning an Ikea Metod kitchen and am considering how to maintain these kitchen units in daily use. Specifically, I am interested in the best ways to care for surfaces, hinges, and drawer mechanisms to extend the lifespan of the components. Are there any particular cleaning or maintenance recommendations to follow, for example, related to the material properties or the hardware used? Also, what about maintenance for wear parts such as hinges or drawer slides? I want to avoid causing damage through improper care or having to schedule unnecessary repairs later. I look forward to your tips and experiences!
The point about moisture makes sense, thank you. One more detailed question: What about the flush tanks / concealed cisterns made of plastic and metal? Do they require different maintenance? And what about possible wear on the front panels – can these be repaired or protected?

I’ve had my Metod kitchen for 2 years and find the maintenance quite simple! Just regular wiping, no harsh cleaning products, and I lubricate the hinges about once a year. This way, the furniture stays in great condition! It’s definitely worth it 👍Thank you, that sounds good and confirms what has been said so far. How about the durability of the fittings? Is it easy to order replacement parts from Ikea if something breaks?

It is important to know the model and serial number to ensure the replacement part fits correctly. The fittings are designed for normal use over several years. Regular maintenance further extends their durability.
