Dear forum members,

My electrical planning is nearly complete.
However, I am still struggling to decide on the best location for my TV/receiver/game console, and the associated planning of outlets/SAT/LAN in the attached ground floor layout.

Where would you position the TV?
I have intentionally left out the current furniture, as it is replaceable and should not determine the orientation.

Thank you very much for your input!
Regards, Jason

And I would place the sofa and TV in the kitchen area. Very cozy, yet separate from the other living area for cooking/dining. 😉 😉

The kitchen would be on the upper right side along the 420 cm (4.2 m / 13 ft 9 in) wall with an island, and the dining table on the upper left side... so within the dining/living room area.

In between, opposite the stairs, you could have an armchair or maybe a wall piano, etc.

This way, the cooking/dining area is right next to the terrace... perfect for summer barbecues.

I think it makes sense to have the connections for TV and similar devices installed in two locations. This way, you remain flexible even later on.

Just as often as women rearrange furniture, yes, two TV sockets.

I would also go with the 4.20 m (14 feet) wall, but now considering the sound system setup (since today a 5.1 system is almost standard), I’m also thinking about where the cables for the speakers will come out and where the home theater receiver, etc., will be placed.

Besides the standard TV outlet, shouldn’t there also be a network connection and an HDMI outlet coming directly from the wall where the TV will be mounted (will it be mounted)?

At the same time, I would add another TV outlet on the long wall.

Keep in mind: if it’s just a TV outlet without all the other stuff I mentioned above, you still have flexibility. But if it’s all the stuff I mentioned above, then any future flexibility is pretty much off the table! 🙂

We have also installed a large empty conduit to an alternative location, so we can easily pull everything through. We have also taken into account audio conduits for sound (we have Atmos 11.2.4). As a tip, for the TV, we preemptively laid DisplayPort (DP) cables in addition to just HDMI. Network cables, fiber optic, etc., should be in place anyway.

I think it always depends on personal preferences. In my opinion, placing a sofa in front of a window or a patio door is not a good idea at all. First, I want to be able to look outside when I’m sitting on the sofa. Second, having the sofa by the window doesn’t feel very comfortable. Often this may only be subconscious, but I definitely notice it. You somehow feel unprotected.

I would also place the TV on the 1.6m (5.25 ft) wall.
