Dear forum members,
My electrical planning is nearly complete.
However, I am still struggling to decide on the best location for my TV/receiver/game console, and the associated planning of outlets/SAT/LAN in the attached ground floor layout.
Where would you position the TV?
I have intentionally left out the current furniture, as it is replaceable and should not determine the orientation.
Thank you very much for your input!
Regards, Jason

What distance from the TV is preferred? How large is the TV and the stand?
I usually roll my eyes during floor plan discussions and wonder why people even post on this topic. 95% of the floor plans shown end up getting torn apart anyway... but with yours, I can actually understand it. 🙄
Now, onto the topic...
For me, only the 2.70 meters (8 feet 10 inches) option would be acceptable. Maybe it could be extended a bit. We have 3.00 meters (9 feet 10 inches) and had trouble finding a wall unit. They are usually larger anyway, especially since a "standard TV" today is often already 55 inches and takes up about half the wall.
And yes... I end up sitting with my back to the window or patio door. :p

I see only two options
* the wall by the stairs
* the exterior wall in front of the right window; the other appliances would then have to be placed on the adjacent wall and not under the TV. The TV could either be made foldable to the ceiling if access to the door/window is needed, or (there is a thread somewhere in this forum) rotatable so you can watch TV from the terrace.
With the other walls, the distances become difficult, or the dining table ends up in the way.

This is a typical townhouse floor plan. It would be interesting to know what type of windows these are and how much sunlight they let in, meaning their orientation.
Having lived for many years in a townhouse myself (and enjoying the close contact with neighbors), I had the chance to see many similar townhouses from the inside. Whether it makes sense or not: For comfort and privacy near the entrance, they all placed their sofa with the longer side against the wall labeled 4.20 in your plan. Maybe this helps you with your considerations.
Personally, I would use the 1.60 meter (5 ft 3 in) wall for a TV unit; in my opinion, the right window will rarely be opened, more likely the left one (based on experience). We had the outlets on the left side wall of the plan, but our interior width was only about 5 to 5.5 meters (16 ft 5 in to 18 ft).
Best regards in short

Thank you very much for the feedback so far!
To briefly answer the questions:
@ sven.conzi: A new board will be purchased, the current TV is 40 inches from 2010. The next one can be larger.
@ Basti2709: A TV wall unit is not necessarily required.
@ hbf12: Unfortunately, I cannot fully visualize your suggestion.
@ ypg: There are two double doors to the terrace. Orientation: south/east.
At the moment, I am leaning towards the 1.60 m (5 ft 3 in) wall between the doors.
The left wall on the plan is too far away.
The right wall on the plan requires the sofa to be in the room, and positioning it against the wall by the stairs may cause light reflections and have the terrace behind it...
