Hello dear community,
I now have two Faktum base cabinets and was shocked to discover that there are no drawers available specifically for these two. I hope to find some help here! The cabinets in question are 30cm and 50cm (12 inches and 20 inches) wide.
Is it possible to shorten the 40cm and 60cm (16 inches and 24 inches) drawers by about 10cm (4 inches)? I understand this would likely require a saw, but I’m not sure if it’s feasible due to the plastic and metal parts involved—especially since certain components are fixed at the corners and seem essential.
THANK YOU for any advice!
P.S.: If this is not possible, can assembled items be returned to IKEA?

Yes, that’s true, but there are no suitable drawer fronts available except for the full front. However, I want a 30cm (12 inches) cabinet with drawers. AND on top of that (increased level of difficulty), I want the entire thing in the stainless steel finish (meaning the front).
That’s not correct.
You can also add fronts to the 3-drawer units!!! But I don’t understand the shortening part, since both the 30cm (12 inches) and 50cm (20 inches) base cabinets have the same depth—unless you are using the wall cabinet as a base cabinet?
Best regards,

IKEA-Experte29 Aug 2011 16:35You can install drawer fronts designed for 30 cm (12 inches) and 50 cm (20 inches) wide drawers, but IKEA does not offer drawer fronts in these sizes. They used to have 50 cm (20 inches) fronts a few years ago, but never 30 cm (12 inches). The only option is to try cutting a larger front to fit, which will only work reasonably well with smooth fronts.
Otherwise, the alternative is to have a two-tone kitchen and order fronts from companies like Beptum or Pokorny or others. Of course, you could also buy all the fronts from these companies and only get the carcasses from IKEA.

OK, I misunderstood [B], there is no 30cm (12 inches) or 50cm (20 inches) front as a cabinet element.
I shortened the fronts once (in Abstract White) and added aluminum edges. It worked well there because there are other aluminum elements present (photo in the gallery).
