Hello,
I am new here and already have my first question. I would like to set up a home office. We even have a spare room that I can convert for this purpose, but the room is very small. Now I am thinking about which furniture would fit best in the space... Do you have any tips? Which furniture can I use to maximize storage space in a small room? Do you have any good suggestions for combinations? That would be really great, thank you.

Well, it seems we have a lot in common (I just wrote something about the display cabinet – as I said, a self-confessed IKEA addict). My office furniture is "almost" entirely from IKEA. First, the desk: Galant in white with T-legs. For the office cabinet, I use a modified Expedit shelf unit (see my photos) in white. Since I couldn’t fit a 5x5 unit against the wall due to space constraints, I combined a 4x4 and a 5x5 to create a 4x5. Additionally, there is a small 2x2 Expedit shelf for which I bought a small cover panel in walnut to bring at least a bit of color into the room. The monitor stand (I work with two screens) is also from this supplier because the ones from IKEA were too large and unstable for me.

Nayla_106821 Feb 2012 21:52Hi,
Expedit is a good suggestion. Otherwise, I would also recommend Besta. There are countless "construction" variants in many colors and a lot of useful interior options. There is also an online planner available, so you can enter your measurements and move the cabinets around. In the end, you can see the price. Oh, and you can also definitely find a desk in the range.

schwedengirl22 Feb 2012 14:27I have the Expedit desk combination in my office because it looks great and is also practical since the compartments are right next to the desk. The Leitz binders fit perfectly, along with everything else. The price was unbeatable at 45.39 euros (back then)!

VanniFunny21 Mar 2012 17:00I bought MDF from the hardware store and built a shelf myself to fit the sloped wall. It turned out very nice and often catches the attention of my friends... Maybe this tip could inspire someone to try building something themselves...

Svensson_632329 May 2012 12:12I find the BESTA desk from Ikea quite stylish. However, my "dream desk" is the one from USM Haller. It’s simply a design classic.

I still think the Besta is an absolutely great alternative (I have one myself), and as a desk combination including a wall shelf (€450) it’s a very good deal in my opinion.
Enjoy setting up your space!
