Hello

we have now installed the IKEA kitchen, but I am now uncertain about the Utdrag range hood.
When we were at the IKEA store, the staff member reviewed our plan and said it would be fine if the appliance hangs less than the specified minimum height of 50 cm (20 inches) above the cooktop. Is that correct?
I wish I had chosen the Underverk or whatever it is called. The staff member said that the Utdrag is also okay....

Hello,

I find 50 cm (20 inches) to be extremely low—how is anyone supposed to cook with that? My asparagus pot is already almost 30 cm (12 inches) tall. And if oil catches fire in a pan or if you flambé something, half the kitchen might go up in flames.

I consider the employee’s statement at least questionable, because usually the height requirements are related to fire safety regulations.

We specifically asked the employee about the height to check if it was acceptable. She said it was not a problem! Now that the part is installed, it is really very low, and I am concerned whether something might happen over time.

Now I have read through the forum here!
You should leave at least 10cm (4 inches) of free space between the wall ceiling and the cabinet because of the duct from the range hood! We don’t even have that! 😱

Height of the range hood above the cooktop 48 cm (19 inches)
Cabinet to ceiling 3 cm (1 inch) 😱
