schnockel1 Feb 2012 13:34Hello everyone!
I’m new here and already have a big question:
We bought a large kitchen from IKEA and now I wanted to start assembling the individual cabinets. Right away, with the first base cabinet (30cm (12 inches) wide), the holes for the legs are missing! Is that always the case? Or were they just forgotten? I haven’t unpacked the other cabinets yet… I want to start on this tonight. But maybe you already know the answer?
I’d really appreciate your help!
Best regards

IKEA-Experte1 Feb 2012 14:42There were holes in my unit as well, but the cabinet is already several years old. The spacing needs to be fairly precise, so it would be problematic if they were missing. There should be 12 holes for the cam connectors.

schnockel2 Feb 2012 10:27Thanks for your help! Of course, these are wall cabinets serving as utility spaces... I should have figured that out myself, oops. Well, now I need to see how I can get the drill holes in there... I actually have a total of 5 such cabinets. Are there any templates available for this?

IKEA-Experte2 Feb 2012 17:50As far as I know, you would have to make those yourself. The FIXA drilling template might help; you should give it a try. However, I would cut off the dowels and simply screw the "plastic cup" in place. The fastener doesn’t need to withstand lateral forces, so there shouldn’t be any issues in that regard.
Attention
The distance to the front edge needs to be accurate; otherwise, the base clamps cannot be used later, or if the legs are too far out, they will get in the way. Otherwise, I would do it like an IKEA expert, or I made a template myself for my kitchen!
