ruthfeHello everyone, some time ago I purchased IKEA Metod kitchen fronts with a wood finish and would like to care for and clean them properly to keep them looking good and avoid damage. I am especially interested in effective methods for removing greasy or sticky residues without harming the surface. I have read that some cleaning products or methods can damage the seal or finish, and I want to avoid mistakes like that. Are there any experiences with specific care products that you would recommend? And how often should the wood fronts be cleaned to ensure they receive the right amount of maintenance, not too much or too little? I look forward to your tips and experiences!
For daily cleaning, it is best to use a mild dish soap with lukewarm water and a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers, as these can damage the surface. For stubborn dirt, you can apply a special wood care oil, but use it sparingly. This will help keep the fronts in good condition for a long time.

I would add that it’s important to thoroughly wipe the surfaces dry with a dry cloth after cleaning to prevent moisture from being absorbed. Wooden fronts, even if sealed, are sensitive to water.
For oily or greasy stains, I recommend using a special natural wood cleaner or a mixture of vinegar and water (1 to 10), tested carefully first.
In general, avoid excessive scrubbing and steer clear of harsh chemicals. Regular maintenance with an appropriate wood care product will further protect the surface and greatly increase the durability of the fronts.

I had the same problem, but the vinegar-water mixture removed the grease really well without damaging the wooden surfaces! Just use a soft cloth and don’t make it too wet. And hey, don’t forget, your kitchen looks so much brighter when the surfaces are clean and well maintained – it’s definitely worth the effort! Good luck to everyone, you can do it! 😃👍
