Does anyone have experience or can even recommend a Polish company? The reputation for price and quality is reportedly very good, at least from what I’ve heard. Since we are already investing a lot of money into the house, at least the exterior works should be somewhat more affordable (yes, Poland has also become more expensive – but still much cheaper than Germany, as far as I know). Thanks to the building plot near Dresden, it’s not too far either.
Here’s what needs to be done:
~30m² (about 320 ft²) terrace (including approx. 3.5 x 4.5m (11.5 x 15 ft) roofed area)
~50m² (about 540 ft²) wooden carport (approx. 9 x 5.5m (30 x 18 ft), just under the threshold for building permit / planning permission)
~75m² (about 810 ft²) driveway/path paved
~40–100m (130–330 ft) fence with garden gate (1.6–1.8m (5.2–6 ft) chain link fence is sufficient)
Does anyone here have relevant experience? Even if it doesn’t fit exactly, feel free to share your projects and prices with your neighbors here so I can get a sense of the costs. Many thanks!
If it gets too expensive, part of the work could of course be done as DIY. But even then, the price for materials “over there” should be much lower, right?

That calls for the portal with the hammer. You can also find these tradespeople in NRW there. However, Hammer is always a bit of a gamble. I think he wants positive experiences from forum users to feel more secure.

Changeling12 Sep 2021 20:36I originally started the thread and had the following work done in Poland:
In the end, the terrace was 10m2 (about 108 square feet) larger, and the paved area was increased by 15m2 (about 160 square feet). A small wall was added as well, but the fence construction was omitted (I did that myself).
After two years, I would like to share my experience, but despite submitting a sworn affidavit and contract documents (which are required here), I received a warning and my report was deleted. Does anyone know who I can contact?
Brief summary: For my next house, I will have everything done by German craftsmen.

For our new build, we have the following done:
- Interior and exterior doors
- Terrace
- Fence
- Kitchen (cabinet maker)
- Probably bathrooms as well

German tradespeople are accessible when something doesn't fit. Sure, after 3-4 years of legal proceedings they might be reachable and, in the best case, even liable, provided there are sufficient assets. There are certainly still honest tradespeople who stand behind their work, but unfortunately there are also many who are only interested in making money and will use every possible means once they have made mistakes and are held accountable... In doing so, they are following the new prevailing culture.
