Hello,

Does anyone have a tip for affordable pleated blinds (plissé) wider than 1.50m (5 feet), which is usually the maximum? I need 1.65m (5.4 feet) for a fixed glazing section (window strip) and, if possible, a mounting method that doesn’t require drilling. Or would you drill into the frame for installation?

Thanks!

I am currently looking for pleated blinds as well. There are some on offer at LID* right now.

There are also types where a track is glued to the left and right sides of the window. The pleated blind then rests on this track. For the mentioned RolloRieper system, the cost per window sash (patio door) was around 300 EUR.

We will start with clip-on ones for now. I’m less worried about a compressed seal because we have “forced ventilation” anyway, and some seals have been trimmed... For 80 x 200 cm (31.5 x 78.7 inches), the price is currently about 12 EUR.

However, we are still looking for pleated blinds for windows measuring (W) 65 x (H) 45 cm (25.6 x 17.7 inches). Somehow, most pleated blinds seem to be taller rather than wider. Therefore, I would appreciate any tips on suppliers offering reasonable prices and who cater to these window dimensions.

Of course, they are all taller. That way, all window sizes can be covered. The width is the key measurement, and the height is adjustable. We use DecoProfi from Amazon. All sizes cost about 25-35€. For your window dimensions, that would be 65 x 130cm (26 x 51 inches).

We now have the "problem" that the clamp holders, which are attached to the top and bottom window sashes by clamping, protrude too far and therefore prevent the sashes from opening at a 90° angle (they hit the inner window reveal or the baseboard). I am now checking if I can glue them to the window; otherwise, they will be returned.

And clamping it like that doesn’t interfere with the seal or the rubber gasket?
It looks like the clamp sits on top of it.

The seal of the window frame is where you clamp it in. Doesn’t that reduce the airtightness or damage my windows?

Even though this is older...

I had the same questions. We initially had double roller blinds mounted by clamping. If you’re not careful, the seal can be damaged. About three months ago, we had several windows measured for pleated blinds by the interior decorator from MHZ. At first, I was worried because they are screwed into the plastic windows 😱 But since they are meant to stay there for many years, I finally agreed. Installation plus the blinds cost a bit over 100€ per window (about 70cm (28 inches) x 120cm (47 inches)). Friends of ours ordered custom pleated blinds online and installed them themselves. They weren’t much cheaper.

If there is any effect on the windows, I believe it is minimal—at least, that’s my hope 🙂

We had the entire house fitted with pleated blinds from MHZ through an interior outfitter. Of course, it comes at a price, but considering a usage period of 10-15 years, the cost was reasonable for us. The quality is truly impeccable.

White window frame with light blue horizontal blinds, seen from inside.

Small white rectangular box on the windowsill next to the window frame; blue cable runs alongside.

Since a friend of mine did the same and I saw the prices, I ordered them myself from livoneo and installed them myself... it looks exactly like yours. Yes, the professionals screw them in there, which is why you shouldn’t use any clip-on options—that’s all rubbish. Securely screw them in, they’ll stay fixed permanently anyway.
