Hello,

Does anyone have a tip for affordable pleated blinds (plissé) wider than 1.50m (5 feet), which is usually the maximum? I need 1.65m (5.4 feet) for a fixed glazing section (window strip) and, if possible, a mounting method that doesn’t require drilling. Or would you drill into the frame for installation?

Thanks!

We had two 90cm (35 inch) window units installed for our window strip, which is 1.80m (6 foot) wide. A professional did the drilling, and we are satisfied. It’s quite practical to be able to adjust just one half.

We also have a pleated blind on the 3m (10 feet) door, so I think it should be easily possible to install them on the 1.6m (5 feet) doors as well. As mentioned, the pleated blinds are from MHZ.

@halmi: Do you also keep your grill outside "just like that" under a cover?

Hi, so I can only recommend the following:

1. Don’t drill holes into the window frames... there are very good pleated blinds, for example from Sunlux24.de, which can be glued directly to the glass next to the frame. We have had them for ages and they are very good quality. Of course, the price depends on the size, starting from about 80 to 100 euros per piece. Standard windows cost around 150 euros.

2. They are really easy to install yourself, no problem at all. A specialist for pleated blinds... sounds kind of pointless, right?

If you own a house, you should be able to handle this yourself and have the motivation to do such things on your own. Otherwise, you might as well hire a building manager.

So it really isn’t complicated, and there are really good quality options that won’t damage the frame. I certainly wouldn’t buy something like that at Lidl.

Yes, of course. It can easily handle that. The cover is only there because I have some items stored in the lower cabinet, which isn’t completely sealed.

The grill is also used every week.

If you own your own house, you should be able to do things like this yourself and have the motivation to handle such tasks on your own. Otherwise, you might as well hire a caretaker.

So it’s really nothing difficult, and there are very good quality products that don’t damage the frame. Of course, I definitely wouldn’t buy something like this from Lidl.

Installation is usually included free of charge.
