Hello everyone,

Does anyone have or plan to install a special parcel mailbox? We both work full-time and prefer not to bother our neighbors with package deliveries.

How do parcel mailboxes work (the postal carrier must be able to leave the package inside, and it must not be possible to open it afterward)?

It’s not a must—just something we’re considering.

I’m looking forward to your replies. Thank you =)

No, it’s better to use the parcel locker (DHL).
Cons of a parcel box: large, ugly, requires an initial investment, and each is only useful for one delivery service. The last point is a deal-breaker.

I had thought about it... but it was too expensive for me...

This also applies to the parcel locker.

DHL will have a designated drop-off location again. This has been working smoothly for years.
Hermes as well, although they regularly lose the authorization form.
I have other parcel services deliver to my workplace.

We have a parcel mailbox. It cost about 200€ (220 USD) on Amazon and includes both a letterbox and a parcel compartment.

All the major delivery companies except DPD (unless they have individual permission for each package) leave their parcels in there. The mechanism is quite simple. A spring holds the compartment open so you can open the door once to put a parcel inside. When you close the door, it can only be opened with the key. Then the spring is reset for the next package to be placed. Our postal carrier knows the system; Hermes deliveries are always hassle-free. I’m not even sure when I last picked up a parcel from the post office. And I order a lot from Amazon...

Unfortunately, I don’t have a good photo of the mailbox. Here’s a basic idea of what it looks like. (Product for Google search: savepost 95)

We would definitely do it again! Just next time, maybe a slightly higher quality one. It seems like only cheap stuff is available nowadays...
