Hello everyone,
We are currently planning our kitchen. Personally, I prefer a white, handleless kitchen. My husband thinks that all fingerprints show on it and therefore wants to have stainless steel trim strips to open the doors.
Do you have any experience? What is easier to maintain? And do you prefer gloss or matte?

Our kitchen hasn’t arrived yet, so I don’t have firsthand experience, but we specifically chose a matte finish with an extra anti-fingerprint coating. At least that solves the problem with fingerprints.
It’s quite normal to get food smudges on the door while cooking. Whether it’s on the recessed handle or a regular handle, it doesn’t make much difference. A recessed handle is probably easier to clean than some handles.
I would just choose based on your personal preference. Pick what you find more attractive.

For us, the principle "form follows function" clearly applies here, so in my view, surface-mounted strips as proper handles are preferable to recessed handles. A handleless kitchen may look sleek!
But personally, I have not seen any recessed handles that are as functional or better than surface-mounted strips/handles.
We are very satisfied with the corresponding strips/handles and do not miss anything either functionally or visually. The kitchen does not look worse because of it either 🙂

Thanks for sharing your experience! That sounds good. How does it work with the refrigerator—where is the recess located? It’s designed as an eye-catching French door model, so it’s freestanding 🙂I have now had a white high-gloss kitchen three times in a row. It might be a bit boring, but for me, it’s still the easiest finish to maintain—especially when I see the matte fronts at friends' places.
A friend gave me a cleaning cloth that you just dampen with lukewarm water to wipe down the fronts. No need to dry afterwards, no streaks, spotlessly clean! Really great.
This time, we opted for surface-mounted handles because we couldn’t fully get used to handleless or recessed grip styles.
The only thing to consider during planning—if you’ve done it like we did before—is where to put the dish towels, which you might have previously hung over bar handles.
Our oven is on the opposite side. We didn’t plan for a hanging solution inside the drawers, and you can’t hang a bar on the edges of the cabinets because the handle spans the entire width. First world problems, I know 🙂
We have a pull-out cabinet at the sink, so we hang the towel over the handle there. And when guests come over who we don’t want to see it, we just put the dish towel away 😀

I’ve also wondered about the dish towels and then saw that there are hanging rails designed for handleless kitchens. That’s probably what you meant, which wouldn’t work with handle trim strips, right?Similar topics
