Hello everyone,

First of all, great forum here!

I am currently planning a U-shaped kitchen. Unfortunately, I seem to have the problem that the drawer slides on one side interfere with each other. At least, that’s my impression, even though the 3D planner doesn’t show any issues.

Please take a look at the attached images.
The problem is at the corner base cabinet next to the sink cabinet. Due to the limited space, I cannot fit a back panel or similar there. I suspect that the drawers of the sink cabinet won’t clear the handles of the adjacent cabinet.
If my impression is wrong, even better!

Problem area in 3D view:

BUT, if I would run into issues there, I am considering shortening the corner cabinet (or the back panel there) slightly on the left side so that the dishwasher cabinet and sink cabinet can shift a little to the left.
Is this possible, and would it help with my problem?

Possible solution:

Thanks in advance!

That would be great. You can’t see very well through the upper cabinets either. Where exactly are the oven (9?) and the stove? How wide is the distance to the window? And do you really want to build an unusable cabinet in the dead corner?

Here are some views of the kitchen... unfortunately, they don’t come across very well:

Cabinet fronts are Veddinge gray, since Grevsta stainless steel unfortunately doesn’t offer all fronts and is also quite expensive. The countertop and backsplash will be oak.

No. 7 60cm (24 inches) stove in an 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinet
No. 9 oven

Distance from window to right wall is about 548mm (22 inches).

I was thinking that in the additional cabinet in the corner, I might install hidden drawers or some kind of bar compartment with a lift/lower mechanism. These are just ideas, and the cabinet stays within a reasonable price range. Once the kitchen is installed, it will be too late.

I wouldn’t recommend installing anything that moves up and down from the countertop so close to the sink. You’ll never be able to seal it properly against water.

If you want to install drawers like the Ikea expert suggests, it’s easier to replace cabinet number 6 with this one:

White kitchen base cabinet with door and interior space, open shelf area
