Hello everyone,

We are currently planning our kitchen. Personally, I prefer a white, handleless kitchen. My husband thinks that all fingerprints show on it and therefore wants to have stainless steel trim strips to open the doors.

Do you have any experience? What is easier to maintain? And do you prefer gloss or matte?

With recessed handles, try opening and closing the refrigerator and dishwasher several times. In our current rental apartment, I can hardly open the dishwasher with one hand.

We have everything without handles and in white high-gloss. The key factor is the sunlight (grazing light) and whether fingerprints are visible or not. Matte finishes are actually much worse in this regard. You need to be careful with the refrigerator and dishwasher. Our refrigerator has a motor in the door that opens it even with a push. Many dishwashers also come with automatic doors. The heavy drawers often have an additional motor as well. Overall, the handleless design is stylish but not very practical, since when you lean against it, you are often pushed away by a drawer. Normally, style follows function, but sometimes it has to be the other way around 😉

My favorite story about this is how, during a power outage, not a single cabinet or drawer in the kitchen could be opened until the electrician fixed the problem the next day.

Hello,

we also have white matte and handleless cabinets. Previously, our old kitchen had high-gloss and handleless cabinets.
We now prefer the matte version. You have to clean both anyway. 😉

So, I’m stepping away again since I just received a warning... References to other websites in the forum are strictly prohibited, so this means not only links but basically also suggesting to use Google. Of course, this might result in a ban, but if so, then so be it. This forum is not that important anyway.

I don’t quite understand the issue with cabinet height utilization. Choosing recessed handles doesn’t reduce the height, does it?

The cabinet is the same height externally, but the usable internal height of the drawers is less. Just do a quick search online, and it will become clear what is meant.
