Hello everyone,
I noticed that the doors on my IKEA Kallax shelving unit do not align evenly—one side is about 1 cm (0.4 inches) higher than the other. My question is whether it is possible to adjust the doors to make them flush again?
I am using the standard Kallax doors and have already tried adjusting the screws on the hinges. However, the difference seems to come from the component itself or possibly incorrect installation, since the height difference remains despite adjusting the screws.
Are there any special tips or additional parts that can reliably correct a door that is higher on one side? Or is it better to replace the doors completely in such a case? I would prefer to avoid major modifications to the shelving unit but would like to achieve a clean appearance.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hello Camila,
if your Kallax door is hanging higher on one side, that’s annoying at first – but hey, you can fix it! 🙂
My tip: Try adjusting the door by slightly loosening the hinge screws, positioning the door correctly, and then tightening the screws again.
If that’s not enough, you can improvise: place a tiny piece of cardboard or a small strip of paper between the hinge base and the shelf board. This kind of “upgrade” with paper isn’t elegant, but it often balances out small height differences and improves the look.
Sometimes furniture is a bit like friends – it just needs a little attention 🙂
Good luck, and feel free to share how it works out for you!
