The technician said that our house is very close to the distribution point – so the 250 Mbps is no problem. I was impressed with the setup of the FritzBox – it has never been easier. Just a few clicks on the phone (without having the internet provider’s customer data at hand), and the FritzBox retrieved everything by itself.

Previously, I had a 500 Mbps fiber optic connection that worked practically without interruptions. Now I’m curious to see how stable this super-vectoring technology over copper lines will be.

I would assume it is either fully or not at all. Not like with cables, where it can vary.

Ah, you all have such tough decisions to make, fiber optic or copper, NID box (network interface device) or not. I appreciate the latest information I received from the telecom provider—well, after the demarcation point and NID box were installed and I was about to sign up for a plan:

"Unfortunately, at the moment we can only offer you voice-only plans."

These aren’t really choices because you often don’t have an option. When you get connected to fiber depends on an unpredictable rollout schedule — but if you do have fiber, you definitely won’t need a TAE socket anymore. And then you almost certainly won’t get one anymore : that is, plain telephone-only plans *LOL*

Some might say this is a common issue. But nowadays, not having internet access really limits what you can do...
