Hello everyone!
Is a TAE socket still necessary nowadays? We won’t be getting a landline phone. Who even calls on those anymore?!
Is the socket needed for anything else?

That’s great. And truly enviable luck. Unfortunately, you can’t choose the provider. There are only the ones available regionally, and that’s it. In this case, they have their own lines or rented ones, which means they can only use what’s available. And that in the magenta city... Well, I hope the last mile here is enough for 100 Mbit (megabits per second), which we have now; that’s sufficient. Of course, 250 would be nicer...
Yesterday, I spoke with an employee of Telekom, who informed me that in the medium term, Telekom products will also be available for non-Telekom (fiber optic) connections. So it does not matter who does the installation, as long as they are competent and can manage the operation of the network.
The planning of the internal wiring in the house is largely independent of whether fiber, copper, or with or without a TAE socket is installed.

However, the planning of the internal wiring in the house is largely independent of whether fiber, copper, with or without a telephone socket (TAE) is installed. That’s correct. But if no one does the installation, then that’s the reality.
Of course, the in-house network remains unaffected by this.

The issue is not the type of outlet, but that there are still electricians who wire TAE sockets as a daisy-chain system when ordered for multiple rooms—at worst using a four-conductor telephone cable.

... and is generally installed by the network operator (telecom company). However, I believe that the PPA has not been the standard for a long time, at least in the places where I have lived over the past ten years. But I think the issue here is about installing additional telephone sockets inside the living areas, which of course no longer makes any sense.
