I have the following question:
In my kitchen, there are three base cabinets with two 20cm (8 inches) Maximer drawers on top and one 40cm (16 inches) Maximer drawer at the bottom, similar to this one but in 80cm (31.5 inches) and 60cm (24 inches) widths:
METOD / Förvara
Base cabinet with 3 drawers, black, Bodbyn gray
The top two drawers are medium height, and the bottom drawer is tall height.
I would like to add another drawer without a front above the bottom drawer (and thus below the middle drawer), which would then be located behind the upper part of the lower 40cm (16 inches) front. Is that possible? And if so, which drawer should I buy from Ikea?
Best regards,

Doppellunt30 Jun 2015 09:29Hello Section Head,
yes, that works without any issues. We have exactly the same door front layout in our kitchen: 40 - 20 - 20. I installed one medium drawer and three shallow drawers behind the 40cm (16 inches) front panels.
However, I believe the medium drawer is not originally intended as an internal drawer, and the lower drawer then has to be a medium one instead of a tall drawer. Since I had some spare medium drawers available, I just tried it, and it works. The internal drawer must be mounted quite high (it almost splits the space in half), so it can only be opened by the handle below the panel. For the shallow drawers, it’s also possible to open them by reaching over the top of the panel.
Here is a picture of it.
Of course, it also depends on how much height you need for the lower drawer.

However, will a medium drawer also fit behind my 40cm (16 inch) front together with the tall drawer, or do I have to use a shallow drawer?

Doppellunt30 Jun 2015 12:07The dimensions are generally possible, but you would need to adjust the front panel of the inner drawer – it won’t work with a 20 cm (8 inches) panel anymore. Also, check beforehand if you can find a suitable perforation row to install the inner drawer.
Height Maximera medium: 14.4 cm (6 inches)
Height Maximera high: 21.2 cm (8.3 inches)
Maximera medium with a 20 cm (8 inches) panel + 21.2 cm (8.3 inches) Maximera high > 38.2 cm (15 inches) (40 cm (16 inches) – 1.8 cm (0.7 inches) lower base) = does not fit.
Maximera medium with, for example, a 15 cm (6 inches) panel + 21.2 cm (8.3 inches) Maximera high = 36.2 cm (14 inches) = could work if there is a suitable perforation row.

Doppellunt30 Jun 2015 14:10Right, I forgot that the fronts for the inner drawers are not the standard fronts and already match the heights of the drawers.
So the calculation example is:
Maximera medium with panel 14.5 cm (5.7 inches) + 21.2 cm (8.3 inches) Maximera tall = 35.7 cm (14.1 inches) < 38.2 cm (15 inches) can work if there is a suitable row of holes.
