IKEA-newbie17 May 2016 00:13Hello! Can someone tell me the internal base dimensions of the 60 cm (24 inch) wide drawers? The exterior dimensions of the Förvara drawers are 56.4 x 52 cm (22.2 x 20.5 inches) and Maximera are 56.4 x 54.2 cm (22.2 x 21.3 inches), but what are the internal measurements? Thanks in advance!
According to my notes, Maximera dimensions are as follows:
Depth: 31cm (12 inches)
Width: 28/48/68cm (11/19/27 inches) in 40/60/80cm (16/24/31 inches)
For the heights, approximately 2.5cm (1 inch) needs to be subtracted.
However, I measured the base dimensions. Since MAXIMERA has curved sides on the left and right, the drawer could be slightly wider at the top. The same applies to FÖRVARA, which has straight sides (unfortunately, I don’t know the exact measurements).

IKEA-Experte17 May 2016 09:35At the very top, the MAXIMERA is 52 cm (20.5 inches) deep.
The depth is 50 cm (20 inches).
The FÖVARA should be 52 cm (20.5 inches) wide everywhere to fit the inserts inside.

IKEA-newbie17 May 2016 20:52Hello Ikea expert, thank you very much!
It’s quite surprising that the Maximera drawers are 8.4 cm (3.3 inches) narrower inside than the cabinets themselves, which wastes a lot of usable space, and also 6 cm (2.4 inches) less deep! So their usable base area is only 48 x 54 cm (19 x 21 inches). It’s a pity you don’t have anything about Förvara, since they are designed differently and it’s unclear how much width the side panels take away there. I prefer Förvara precisely because the bottom is not curved.
I want to put together my own waste system because the IKEA bins are too small for me. With the recyclable waste that always accumulates, they are nowhere near enough, so I planned to combine a medium Förvara drawer and a 65-liter (17-gallon) SAMLA box into a pull-out waste container. But unfortunately, at 56 cm (22 inches) wide, it’s too wide. Well, IKEA certainly makes sure you can’t easily combine things and are forced to take their more expensive options...
