Hello,
I currently live in a rental apartment and have a Faktum kitchen there. Since I’m moving and will need a kitchen at the new place, I would like to take most of my kitchen with me. Fortunately, IKEA is quite flexible in this regard.
Now, I have a cabinet that is 80cm (31.5 inches) wide. My induction cooktop is currently installed on a 60cm (23.6 inches) cabinet. My oven is built in at eye level, and I want to keep it that way. The question is: Can I install my induction cooktop on the 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinet as well? I believe the splash guard can also be installed there. If necessary, a few extra screws can be added. Otherwise, nothing would really change, right? Or am I missing something?
Does anyone have experience with this?

schramm.sa2 Apr 2014 21:43I don’t have direct experience with this. However, if your cooktop currently sits on a 60cm (24 inch) base cabinet, it will also fit on an 80cm (32 inch) cabinet, since the latter is larger, not smaller. The crucial factor is the cutout in the countertop.
I haven’t installed this splash guard in my kitchen myself. However, I also don’t have a cooktop from IKEA.

Nayla_10683 Apr 2014 17:54Hi,
Of course, you can install your cooktop in an 80cm (31.5 inch) cabinet. If you add a splash guard underneath, that would be ideal.
Since you mentioned you have a Faktum kitchen and that IKEA is flexible... well, it is IKEA! However, Faktum will no longer be available in the store as of 02.06.14. Most new stock is already no longer being delivered. There will be a restocking program for another two years.
You might want to consider this in your kitchen planning.

Herr rossi3 Apr 2014 19:22Hi,
Metod will be available in the IKEA houses starting from 2.6. It’s definitely worth considering whether to install a Faktum in your new apartment or to wait. Check the IKEA website, there is already an announcement for Metod. Regarding your question: Of course, you can install your induction hob in an 80cm (31½ inch) cabinet, since the cutout in the countertop is not larger.
