Hello everyone,

I have already found many valuable tips here for planning my Metod kitchen. Thank you very much for that!
Now the time has come to get down to the "nitty-gritty," meaning the purchase phase. Before that, I would like to ask once more if I might have overlooked anything with the appliances I have chosen, so that they will definitely fit in the end.

The following appliances/cabinet configurations are planned:
Cooktop: Miele KM6307 in an 80cm (31.5 inch) base cabinet with drawers
Oven: Neff B55VS24N0 together with an (old) Miele 626 EG microwave with built-in frame, installed in a tall cabinet for oven and microwave
Dishwasher: Miele G 6265 SCVi XXL fully integrated
Sink: Franke Hydros HDX 254 in a 60cm (23.6 inch) sink base cabinet with drawers – I am uncertain if this will work with the siphon and the drawer underneath.

I would be grateful for any advice!
Best regards, leia

Two things right away:
When installing the cooktop, pay attention to the installation instructions and check if the minimum thickness of the countertop is suitable.

For the sink, it is recommended to buy a "space-saving" trap or "cabinet trap," which can compete with IKEA traps in terms of saving space.

Cooktop: The minimum countertop thickness specified is 29 mm (1.1 inches). The cooktop also fits over a 60 cm (24 inches) wide base cabinet without needing to cut into the cabinet frame.

Oven: OK

Microwave with built-in frame: no information found online

Dishwasher: OK

Sink: flush-mounted? Which countertop material will it be installed in? Siphon see fleptin. Have you carefully considered the small basin? Will you actually use it, or might you later prefer just one large basin instead?

The note about the siphon is acknowledged...

The countertop will be a 2.8 mm (0.11 inch) thick one from IKEA. Drawers are planned below the cooktop. Because of the 1 mm (0.04 inch), would it make sense to disable the top narrow drawer?

The microwave is very old but works perfectly... the built-in frame is currently placed on a 45 cm (18 inch) high niche underneath – I think that will fit. However, just to be safe, I will definitely bring the frame with me to IKEA.

Regarding the sink... to be honest, no, I never use the second small basin. But sometimes I do appreciate having a second drain. So, a sink with a second drain would be sufficient for me, but I haven’t found any with a slim top edge (i.e., a shallow rim). I wanted the sink to rest on top of the countertop, not be flush-mounted.

I don’t know why exactly 29 mm is specified, as 28 mm is the usual dimension. To be sure, you can check with Miele.
The minimum distance from the underside of the cooktop to:
– the top edge of the oven must be 15 mm (0.6 inches).
– the top edge of the intermediate shelf must be 15 mm (0.6 inches).
– the drawer bottom must be 75 mm (3 inches).
So the upper 10 cm (4 inches) should preferably just be a cover panel.

Is a standpipe valve sufficient as an additional drain occasionally?

Grauer vertikaler Rohrstutzen mit runder Basisplatte auf glatter Oberfläche

  • Model: REGINOX standpipe valve 3 1/2"
  • Brand product from REGINOX
  • 3 1/2" plastic standpipe valve
  • for basins with 3 1/2" outlet
  • made of plastic with internal seal
  • compatible with sinks of the REGINOX Clean & Care series
  • for water levels: 138/160/182/202 mm (5.4/6.3/7.2/8 inches)
  • the height of the standpipe valve must be adjusted on site

I personally never missed having a second drain, even without a dishwasher. I always emptied everything before washing.
Does the flat support rim really sit completely flush on the surface? If the seal causes the rim to lie slightly above the countertop surface, it creates a nice dirt gap.

Yes, the sink is installed on top, just like a conventional sink.
