Hello everyone, I am planning to optimize my Ikea Metod kitchen interior to significantly increase storage space without losing the proven modularity. I am particularly interested in which smart interior solutions (such as special drawer inserts, flexible divider systems, or multifunctional organizers) have proven especially practical with Metod. The goal is not only to create more room for dishes and cooking utensils but also to improve organization and clarity. Are there any experiences or recommendations on how to best utilize the existing frames and surfaces, possibly in combination with Ikea or third-party products? I am especially curious whether the additional effort in assembly and maintenance is truly worthwhile or if minimal-invasive improvements already make a noticeable difference. Thanks for your tips!

Hi, I would recommend using drawer inserts with adjustable grids, which are available directly from Ikea for the Metod system. Thanks for the tip! I think this type of insert is a good starting point, but I wonder if there are additional solutions that don’t necessarily come from Ikea but are still compatible. I’m aiming for maximum flexibility and also want to better organize specific items like pans, lids, or storage jars.benonon schrieb:
I’m also interested in how much space you are currently using and whether you have issues with unused corners? That way, more targeted suggestions can be made.At the moment, I mainly struggle with the large base cabinets and the corner units, where space often goes unused, which is frustrating. So far, I have avoided using carousel or swing-out units, but that might be a solution. It would be great if we could focus on ideas specifically for these areas.SUGENAR schrieb:
Currently, I’m mainly struggling with the large base cabinets and the corner carcasses, as there is often unused space Corner solutions are indeed the key challenge with kitchen units like Metod. My recommendation:
- Use pull-out systems specifically designed for corner cabinets, such as lazy Susans or magic corners, which maximize the use of space.
- Add removable storage bins to improve accessibility.
- When installing, make sure to align the mechanisms precisely, as otherwise the smooth operation will suffer.
Additionally, adjustable-height internal inserts in the base cabinets can be used to create stackable storage for items like pantry jars or pots.
IKEA’s swivel and pull-out systems are good, but third-party suppliers often offer specialized upgrades that are modular and compatible, providing significant added value.
