I recently installed IKEA METOD glass fronts in my kitchen. Now I’m facing the challenge of cleaning them gently while avoiding streaks.
Glass is usually quite easy to maintain, but with the METOD fronts, I feel that many household cleaners leave streaks or cause tiny scratches over time, which can be annoying.
I’m interested to know which cleaning products or methods you have found effective for IKEA METOD glass fronts to prevent streaks and scratches and to care for the surfaces as gently as possible.
Are there any special cloths or additional products that have proven useful? Or maybe even DIY recipes?
It’s important to me to avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the surface.

After cleaning, thorough drying is essential to prevent streaks.

To prevent buildup, I recommend regularly wiping the fronts with a slightly damp microfiber cloth to avoid heavy dirt accumulation.

Simply use a mild soap solution and a microfiber cloth.
Avoid aggressive cleaners and do not rub dry, as this can cause scratches.
Wipe again with a dry cloth for a streak-free finish.

IKEA METOD fronts are everyday furniture, not display pieces. Of course, everyone wants them clean, but if you focus too much on perfect, streak-free reflections, you might lose perspective – simple maintenance and practicality for daily use should come first.

Besides:
- Glass only gets scratched by microfiber cloths if they are dirty
- Mild cleaners are completely sufficient

I advocate for pragmatism. If you want scratch-proof perfection, you should consider specialist furniture or glass types with coatings, which will certainly be more expensive.
