I’m slowly getting frustrated with my kitchen, so I have a few more questions and then hopefully I’ll be done 🙂
So:
1. Question:
Is there any way to have a "normal" drawer at the top of the base cabinet for the cooktop and not the 35cm (14 inches) deep drawer? Maybe it’s possible with the new NYTTIG? Does the new NYTTIG even fit on the Faktum cabinet system? Why do I have to choose the "small" drawer?
2. Question:
Yesterday the tall cabinets for the fridge/freezer and the oven cabinet were installed. Total confusion. Should there be a back panel on the fridge/freezer cabinet (RÄKALL)? We totally didn’t figure that out yesterday 🙂
What about the ventilation grille? Does it have to be cut into the toe kick or not? If yes, for both cabinets?
3. Question:
We have gaps from the walls of 5 cm (2 inches) on both sides. We want to cover these (so just cut and install the toe kick). Yesterday someone told us there are some clips for the panels at IKEA. Is that true? How are the panels normally fitted?
Many thanks in advance for your answers!
Best regards,
Natasa

Juliette W24 Sep 2015 14:56Hello Natasa,
Regarding point 1: I have a standard drawer under my Högvärdig cooktop. On top, there are two 20cm (8 inches) drawers and below that, a 40cm (16 inches) drawer. Or did I misunderstand your question?
Best regards

IKEA-Experte25 Sep 2015 14:00Hello,
1.) You need space for the cooktop cable. With Metod, there is more space, so the NUTTIG intermediate shelf can be installed deeper than with FAKTUM. It might be possible with FAKTUM using the oven drawer and the cooktop divider from METOD (which might also need to be shortened by about 2mm (0.08 inches) in width), but then the drawer would be shallower. Probably no one can say for sure if it will work.
2.) No back panel. The ventilation grille must be installed in the plinth. The same applies to the oven, if specified.
3.) Clips are only available for the plinth panel. The matching panels are simply screwed on to the cabinet body or top panel.

IKEA-Freund25 Sep 2015 16:07Regarding point 1) You mentioned a gas cooktop in another thread – check there again to see if the installation manual provides information on the required clearances underneath.
Regarding point 2) The most important factor is sufficient ventilation cross-section at the base and along the back wall for upward airflow. The Räkall manual specifies a minimum cross-sectional area of 200 cm2 (31 square inches) each.
Best regards,
IKEA-Freund
