Hello,

I am currently assembling my kitchen. At the moment, I am working on my wall cabinet with a glass door. I have the problem that I need to attach the glass door in a spot where there is no frame—only glass.

Does IKEA offer a wrong combination (Avsik and Faktum wall cabinet) or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you very much,
Charly

Hello,

First of all, thank you very much for the help!! I just spoke with IKEA on the phone. I will receive new hinges from Sweden, the drilling template from Germany, and regarding a drill bit or a mounting plate, she could not provide any information. Everything will take 6-7 business days. Alternatively, I could pick it up at the store, but the friendly lady herself said that she had a customer whom the store couldn’t help either... and referred them to customer service by phone.

In any case, IKEA has already dealt with many emails and is well prepared.

But the fittings to attach the hinge are still missing.
The Avsikt frame is too narrow to install the folding hinges. That’s why a "mounting plate" is added, which doubles the width of the frame.

Yes, you’re right.

Hello Stina,

just a quick question: Which Faktum cabinet do you have – the one that comes with the two drilling templates? A friendly IKEA staff member “prescribed” me this one: 301.323.82 (Faktum 92 x 40 cm [36 x 16 inches]).

Thanks a lot,
Charly

Hi,

my Faktum cabinet measures 70 x 40 cm (28 x 16 inches); I don’t have the order number right now since I’m at work, but it should basically be the same as yours, just with different dimensions.

Otherwise, it looks like everything has been sorted out now.

@ Maverick:

I once saw that at IKEA you can get small parts if, for example, screws or similar items were missing from the package. They have a whole wall full of compartments with these small parts. Do you happen to know if I could also get one of those drills there, since the new cabinets are supposed to include them? I’m planning to go to IKEA today or tomorrow anyway, so that would save me a trip and searching at the hardware store.

Stina

Hello Stina,
I think the drill bit might still be too new for them to have it in stock there. But they can probably order it for you. Which IKEA are you going to?

@Maverick

But then you’d still be missing the fittings to attach the hinge.

Sorry, I missed that:
You no longer need hinges for the horizontal wall cabinet. The door is held entirely by the folding hinge. But that’s what you meant, right???

I guess nothing more will be coming.

I know this thread is quite old, but I urgently need the assembly instructions for the cabinet in digital format.

Thank you very much in advance.
