Hello everyone, I’m planning to buy a Pax wardrobe from Ikea soon, but I’m a bit unsure about the time required for assembly. So my question is: How long does it typically take to assemble an Ikea Pax wardrobe, including putting together the individual components and installing either sliding doors or regular doors, while working carefully? I’m looking for a realistic estimate that can serve as a guideline for both beginners and somewhat experienced DIYers. Thanks in advance for your opinions and practical experience!
Hello Franco4, the assembly time for a Pax wardrobe largely depends on whether you are working alone or with a partner. If you’re assembling by yourself, you should allow 5 to 7 hours; with two people, 3 to 5 hours is realistic.
I can confirm that. Especially the fine adjustment of the doors can be tricky at times. I recommend taking your time with this, as a well-adjusted door will prevent problems later on.

If sliding doors are desired, you should plan an additional 30 minutes or so since they require some patience.

My tip: For a standard-sized PAX wardrobe with sliding doors, plan about half a day, roughly 4-6 hours. Of course, very experienced DIYers may be faster. Still, it’s helpful to take breaks occasionally to avoid mistakes. Assembling it with two people is recommended, since you can assist each other and handle heavy parts more easily.
I agree to some extent, but for complete beginners, it’s quite realistic to spend time understanding the instructions and identifying the individual parts. The key here is patience and following the process step by step.

Anyone who really needs more than 6 hours either has two left hands or doesn’t feel like reading the instructions.

Great that the discussion is generating so much input! By the way, I've found that having the right tools really saves a lot of time. A cordless drill is practically essential; otherwise, the process drags on unnecessarily.
And the first time, be sure to always read the notes in the small boxes at the bottom of the assembly instructions—they are incredibly valuable!

The time varies depending on experience, tools, and preparation.
