Filippota227 Oct 2022 08:42Hello everyone, I am currently researching IKEA furniture and have come across the Hemnes series. My question is: How does the IKEA Hemnes series differ in terms of material quality, design philosophy, and functionality compared to other IKEA series like Malm or Kullen? I have the impression that Hemnes feels a bit more robust and classic, while other series are designed to be more modern or budget-friendly. Perhaps someone has experience that can explain this in more detail? I am especially interested in whether the higher price of Hemnes is justified by particular features and how durable this furniture is in comparison.

HEMNES is made of solid pine wood, which makes it more durable than many other ranges that often use particleboard. That makes sense to me. However, I’m curious about how this affects maintenance and long-term value. Are there any options within the range for surface treatments that are especially durable? Also, I wonder if the classic design has any drawbacks, for example regarding style changes during renovations.
The surfaces of HEMNES are mostly made of painted or white-stained pine wood, which makes maintenance easier and improves resistance to scratches. Compared to the veneered surface of some MALM models, this is more durable but also more susceptible to moisture if care instructions are not followed. The classic style of the HEMNES series offers a wide range of compatibility with different interior design styles, enhancing its longevity. However, it may be perceived as outdated in very modern design concepts.
I love my HEMNES bed! 😊 The quality really stands out, and I also think it gets more beautiful over time rather than older. Of course, it’s not an ultra-modern design, but that’s part of its charm! The price is definitely worth it, especially if you value sustainability and durability.
