Hello everyone, I am currently researching IKEA furniture and have come across the Hemnes series. My question is: How does the IKEA Hemnes series differ in terms of material quality, design philosophy, and functionality compared to other IKEA series like Malm or Kullen? I have the impression that Hemnes feels a bit more robust and classic, while other series are designed to be more modern or budget-friendly. Perhaps someone has experience that can explain this in more detail? I am especially interested in whether the higher price of Hemnes is justified by particular features and how durable this furniture is in comparison.

A structured comparison:
- Material: Hemnes uses solid pine wood, while series like Malm mostly use particleboard or MDF with a veneer.
- Design: HEMNES is classic/traditional; other series are usually modern and minimalist.
- Functionality: HEMNES offers well-sized, traditional drawers and doors, making it suitable for long-lasting use.
- Price: Higher than series made with particleboard, reflecting the choice of material.

In the long term, HEMNES requires more maintenance than, for example, MALM with its easy-to-clean surface, but it is of higher quality due to the solid wood.

I can add that HEMNES often has more decoration or detailing on the frame, which other series lack. For people who prefer a minimalist style, this can sometimes be too much. However, this clearly distinguishes the series visually.

However, I would be interested to know how this affects maintenance and long-term value.

HEMNES can be well maintained with wood cleaner; the surface is durable, but caution is needed regarding moisture and impacts. In the long term, it is a good investment because the wood is less prone to damage compared to veneer or laminate coatings found in other product lines.
