Hello everyone, I have a problem with my Ikea Platsa drawers that keep sticking when I pull them out or push them in. Specifically, the issue involves the drawer front rails, which on some of my units catch and do not slide smoothly. I have already checked that the drawer is properly installed and that the rails are clean, but this only helps to a limited extent. Sometimes there is a slight creaking sound, or more force is needed. Are there any proven tips or methods to effectively eliminate or at least reduce sticking issues with Ikea Platsa drawers? I look forward to hearing about your experiences and advice, including any suggestions for special adjustments or installation tips.

How would you recommend checking the screws precisely and using a spirit level effectively, without taking the furniture apart?

That’s a very good question, as you don’t always want to disassemble everything. I personally use a small digital spirit level, which is quite accurate and can be placed on the drawer slides. To do this, pull the drawer out completely (keep the drawer front attached) and place the spirit level on the rails at the bottom of the cabinet base, with the drawer fully extended.

If you notice the rail is tilted, an adjustable screw solution can help:

- Loosen the screws slightly until there is a little play
- Align the rail by hand (parallel to the furniture front or horizontally)
- Tighten the screws again

For the rear screws, it makes sense to push the drawer back in and check whether any binding still occurs.

If you don’t have a digital spirit level, a small spirit level for floors or even a very narrow one for toilet cisterns can work, as they can fit into the rail opening.

Also: be sure to check the rollers to make sure they spin freely. Sometimes hair or lint collects there, which can slow down the movement.

Drawers often stick if the track is not properly aligned or if dirt is trapped inside. Checking the screws, cleaning, and applying silicone spray is usually sufficient. For Platsa, make sure that the front edge is not hanging too low.

Hey fibla, I had the same problem! After trying for a while, I completely removed all the drawers, treated the slides with Teflon spray, and then carefully adjusted their alignment – now everything runs super smooth! Just don’t give up; with patience, it will definitely work! Good luck 😊

Careful probing shows that the rail at the back has minimal play.

This can definitely be crucial because even a small amount of play at the back can cause unfavorable movement angles. Perhaps a washer could be inserted there to minimize the play. I know, sometimes these minor adjustments can drive you crazy, but once it’s fixed, the annoyance often disappears completely. I hope your drawers will soon operate smoothly!
