Hello everyone, I recently bought a Pax wardrobe from IKEA and am currently facing the challenge of installing the sliding doors correctly. Although the instructions are included, I find some parts a bit unclear, especially regarding the alignment of the upper and lower sliding rails and how to hang the doors themselves. I’m also wondering what the best approach is to ensure the doors slide smoothly and evenly, as well as which tools would be ideal to use. Has anyone had experience with this and could provide a step-by-step guide or tips to help me install the sliding doors properly and without issues?
Thank you for the previous advice! I have a more detailed question: The instructions state that the upper rollers are different depending on whether the door slides to the left or right. Can someone explain exactly what I need to pay attention to and how to install the rollers correctly? Also, I noticed that the bottom track sometimes has a kind of guide–how exactly are the doors guided in it without getting stuck?
This is an important question. The upper rollers have different notches or stops that prevent the doors from coming off the track. Typically, the left door has different rollers than the right door to ensure the doors latch correctly and slide in the proper direction. Therefore, it is essential to assign the rollers according to the instructions and labeling.
Regarding the bottom track: a small guide pin or groove in the door runs inside the bottom guide rail to prevent the door from tipping forward. This guiding mechanism is designed to operate smoothly so the doors do not get stuck. It is important that the guide rail is installed cleanly and free of debris.

The instructions state that the upper rollers are different depending on whether the door slides to the left or the right. This is exactly the point where many get confused, even though it’s actually simple. You can understand that the rollers are designed so that each door only fits into its designated track, ensuring the entire system remains stable. You should carefully check the rollers before installation and attach them according to the markings on the doors. Random trial and error will only lead to chaos.
For additional clarification: The upper running wheels are indeed designed asymmetrically to ensure a specific direction of movement. They are installed according to the pressure or color markings that IKEA applies to the components. Regarding the lower guiding system: a small pin at the bottom of the door engages with a groove in the lower rail. Adjustment is done via screws on the rollers to allow for slight play. The installation must be precise, otherwise the doors will not run parallel, resulting in increased wear.
