ᐅ How do I properly adjust IKEA HEMNES doors if they don’t fit correctly?

GERON63Hello everyone, I recently assembled an IKEA Hemnes wardrobe and noticed that the doors don’t fit properly – they stick in some places or don’t close flush. I know that the doors in the HEMNES series come with special adjustment hinges that are supposed to allow correcting fit issues. However, I’m unsure how exactly to adjust the doors to align them correctly in height, width, and depth.
Could you please provide a detailed guide on how to properly adjust IKEA HEMNES doors when they don’t fit? Which screws need to be turned, in what order, and by how much, without risking damage to the hinges or the door?
It would also be helpful to know if there are any special considerations with this series, as the door edges seem to be somewhat delicate. Thanks in advance!

For the correct adjustment of IKEA HEMNES doors, I recommend the following steps:
- Ensure that all hinge screws are tightened securely by hand.
- Vertical adjustment is done via the screw on the hinge arm that controls the height. Align the door so that it sits flush and parallel to the cabinet side.
- Horizontal adjustment is made by turning the screw on the hinge cup to move the door closer to or further from the cabinet body, achieving an even gap distribution.
- Depth adjustment is done using the screw on the top of the hinge to ensure the door sits flush with the cabinet frame and does not bind.
Important: Make only small adjustments to the screws at a time and open and close the door several times between adjustments. This helps to avoid overcorrections or damage.
These hinges feature a mechanism designed specifically for fine tuning, so avoid applying excessive force when turning the screws.
