sebastianr11 Dec 2017 08:33Hello everyone,
I recently purchased the IKEA Platsa system and want to securely fix the cabinets to my laminate flooring. My question is: How do I properly attach IKEA PLATSA to laminate floors so that the furniture stands firmly while avoiding damage to the floor? I am also interested in whether there are specific foot pads or installation methods you would recommend to prevent scratches and pressure marks. Ideally, the solution should be removable without leaving any residue in case I want to rearrange the furniture later.
Thanks in advance for your advice!

For the proper installation of IKEA PLATSA on laminate flooring, I recommend the following approach:
- Use felt pads or special rubber furniture glides under the feet to prevent pressure marks and scratches.
- Always secure the cabinets to the wall using the included wall brackets to minimize the risk of tipping or sliding.
- Ensure that the feet are properly leveled, as uneven pressure can cause marks on the laminate.
- Avoid directly screwing into the floor, as this can damage the surface seal.
This combination ensures both stability and floor protection.

Avoid direct screw fastenings on the floor as they can damage the sealing. That makes sense. Are there any alternatives to achieve additional stability without damaging the floor? I’ve also considered using tape or double-sided mounting tape. Does anyone have experience with this?
Double-sided mounting tape can be an option, but durability depends on the product and how it is used. Often, the tapes come loose over time or leave residue behind.
It is better to rely on wall mounting using the supplied brackets. If the cabinet slips, anti-slip mats placed between the feet and the floor can be a helpful addition without causing any damage.
